This slit felt or foam strip resides on the inside of the rear housing for the Optical Drive on the White iMacs from Late 2005 G5 (iSight) through Late 2006. The CD or DVD is inserted through this piece to get into or out of the drive. If you have destroyed yours attempting to extract a CD or DVD, you may appreciate this.
